Amelia has been on her own a long time and has been burned by men in the past, so she is leery of trusting Craig and his compliments. Craig, also has had a bad relationship in the past, but realizes that this connection with Amelia is rare and wants to give the relationship his all. As they spend more and more time together on vacation, Amelia opens up and learns to trust Craig and his compliments. This is where I think Ms. Oliver did a great job, she slowly has Amelia adjusting to the alpha male personality that Craig has, but Amelia still keeps her independent nature. The connection between Amelia and Craig is palpable and oh-so-steamy!

During the first third of the book there are a few awkward paragraphs and "thoughts" coming from the men, that I really couldn't imagine any man thinking. However, the hilarious one liners and witty dialogue make up for the stilted paragraphs. By chapter two I was laughing out loud at the antics of the characters.
One of the things that makes this book different is that it switches back and forth between Amelia and Craig's point of view. That way we get inside both of their heads in a first person point of view book. It also amazes me how much knowledge Ms. Oliver has on different subjects that the characters engage in.
This is a strong debut from a brand new author. This is a perfect book for the summer that I did not want to put down! (And any book that features a loveable puppy is a favorite!)
