I have to admit that this book was a little slow in the beginning for me, but when it got to the second half, I couldn't put the book down. That's when the mystery really started to unfold. The first half does a good job of setting up the character's and background story, but I noticed some grammatical issues in the first half. Nothing too major and really, no book can be 100% free of spelling or grammatical issues.That being said, I give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. This is the first book in a series and a strong debut from a new author. This book says it's a young adult paranormal, but I don't agree with the paranormal aspect. I'd say it was a young adult mystery or young adult suspense. This book could appeal to teens and adults alike, with nothing that I would consider inappropriate for the young adult crowd.
Render sounds to me like rendering meat. And then to have her name Fleshman... sounds like Zombies. Is it about Zombies?
